“ My partner and I have visited Elsie's Vintage Tea Room several times now, and each time has been a delight! As you enter Elsie's, you find a small, cosy Tea Room that is decorated in a wonderful vintage style. There are some beautiful vintage tea sets or even individual pieces within the decor that are lovely to look at during your meal. There is always a friendly, welcoming atmosphere as soon as you walk through the door here which is very relaxing. The food is wonderful, and ALL homemade - their pies are the best I've ever had, with the most delicious pastry casing that is packed full of whatever filling you've chosen. Most of the pies also have a pastry lid but you will find some open pies, depending on what flavours are available the day you go in. They always have a good selection of pies to choose from, including at least one vegetarian option. There's also a choice in how you'd like your pies served - by themselves, with mash, Yorkshire pudding, and gravy or (my favourite) with buttered new potatoes and coleslaw. I've noticed that the coleslaw ingredients vary slightly each time I've been too, which is a great idea. No matter how full you are, it's extremely easy to be tempted by a dessert and/or cake here, as they always look so scrumptious! It's so difficult to pick one, so I decided to have some lemon cheesecake and take home a raspberry and white chocolate scone. I did mean to take a photograph of my pie (beetroot, goat's cheese, pine nuts & pesto, if I recall correctly), but it looked so good when it came that I couldn't help but tuck in immediately. I have however taken a photo of my finished plate, to show the intention was there, and how delicious it must have been for me to have an empty plate. I did however manage to photograph our desserts. As previously mentioned I had the lemon cheesecake. My partner chose a version of a bakewell tart that had ginger & rhubarb frangipane (if I recall correctly, and he thoroughly enjoyed it. We both left feeling extremely full and happy and agreed we'd be visiting Elsie's again soon. We did visit again, around a month after my original review (above) was posted. This time we decided to phone ahead of time to reserve a table, and it was a good job we did! We had the usual warm welcome, and again the quality of the food was fantastic. By the time we got there (2pm) a lot of the pies had already sold, so we were left with two to choose from. Other items are available though if you don't want a pie, such as paninis. One last thing, do make sure you have some change with you when you go. This is one of those places where you will absolutely want to leave a tip! ”

“ What a fabulous place! Genuine, friendly service and very welcoming. The team looked after us very well from start to finish. Delicious homemade savouries and cakes. One of the best afternoon teas I’ve ever had. Make sure you book as it’s a fairly small space but really don’t miss it if you fancy a treat. They also do homemade pies. I was called by my first name, which made me feel very welcome. There was a choice of freshly baked scones and preserves. Lots to love… highly recommended and would definitely return! ”

“ Shared a birthday afternoon tea here with my other half. I can only echo what others have already commented. Quaint place, nostalgic music, fantastic friendly service and the most delicious homemade cakes and pastries. The raspberry and white chocolate scone was one of the best I've tasted. Definitely value for money and worth the drive. Heartily recommended! ”

“ Simply gorgeous little tea rooms. We had a lovely, warm welcome on arrival and the food was absolutely delicious. Thick cut sandwiches on proper bread, strong selection of cakes and can thoroughly recommend the pie! Highly recommend and would definitely visit again if in the area. ”

“ Charming traditional tea shop/cafe serving great coffee and a good range of homemade cakes and light meals. We had the soup and chicken & leek pie, both cooked to order. All served with proper crockery and cutlery. Great lunch stop near Shrewsbury on the way back from mid-Wales. ”

“ What a little gem of a place. We went in at 3.30pm and we were not expecting to eat there, as they close at 4pm however, the lovely lady said it was no problem.. so we had the most gorgeous bacon and egg sandwich amd my daughter had this incredible cinnamon bun, washed down with a larhe pot of tea. Nothing was too much trouble for her. I did buy dome goodies to take home too and as she was closing, she very kindly did some deals for us, which we were extremely grateful for. The atmosphere is cozy and I highly recommend that you pop by. We are only around 30mins away but I saw a post on fb, so we decided to head out especially. The food was absolutely delicious! We will most definitely be going back. ”

“ Super lovely afternoon tea, with the perfect savoury/sweet balance. Best sausage rolls I've had, really good amount of sandwiches and selection of delicious cake. I like my cake and can honesty not fault these! Would highly recommend. Other food being served also looked amazing (cake slices are HUGE) so I'll be heading back! Staff were super friendly, the tea room itself is cosy, beautifully decorated and really lovely atmosphere. 10/10! ”
